I have always felt ahead of my time…it’s good and it’s bad…
It’s good when it innovates
It’s bad because when everyone is ready, I am bored or tired.
I remember starting HR Bootcamps in 2009, it seemed novel then…
I remember starting HR business partner skills training in 2010.
I remember launching the Nigeria Labour Act App is 2014, same year Kendor Foundation was registered as a not for profit.
Then launching Starting a Career in HR in 2015, same year we had our most attended HR Bootcamp conference.
2017, another not for profit was registered, St Michael’s Trust Foundation…mission was to help improve awareness, diagnosis and treatment of uterine fibroids.
Then there was my book, Change Your Career in 2019.
Then, starting the HR Bootcamp Accelerators in 2020 during the pandemic. When everyone was locked down, I was skilling up HR professionals on monetising their HR skills and starting HR businesses.
Then launching Kendor Academy in 2021…after years of trying.
March 2022, I would embark on a full time doctorate degree while still working full time. In that time, I would stretch my research and writing skills and add to the body of knowledge on remote work.
2024, I would receive the award of Doctor in Business Administration.
In 2026, I would complete the work of my own reflective journal ‘Resting in God’s Promises’ and I am finally doing something about Kendor Foundation and St Michael’s Trust.
It’s been over 17 years of Kendor and 1000s of lives impacted, I won’t lie to you, it’s been a whole lot.
My plan was to retire 5 years ago. Retirement for me meant, I would stop doing any work that drains me rather than fuels and excites me.
I have not met my goal and it keeps me awake at night.
It’s not clear to me why I am still working the way I do, but one thing I am sure is, in a world full of distractions, my energy must be intentionally focussed on the things that truly matter.
I am prepared to walk away from situations that don’t or no longer serve me.
All in all, I know I have been truly blessed and my gratitude never ceases.
I also always want to help other people…the right people, it’s in my DNA…
To do what I have spent over 2 decades doing. Be a valuable HR professional, whether an employee or an entrepreneur.
When I started the HRpreneur Accelerators, there were too few people interested, everyone was interested in the employee focussed programmes. I get it, entrepreneurship is hard and I don’t blame them at all, but times have changed…and there is still a huge gap and lots of opportunity for problem solvers.
I made a post a few months ago and over 500 people were interested.
I tried a mentoring programme in 2019, I didn’t like the model but I am happy to try something different. I am open to ideas.
This is an unplanned reflective piece.
Have a great day.
Enjoy!
ps: The last month has been back to back leadership development programmes. Big shout out to my wonderful clients.
