My work is very humbling. Even if I wanted to live my life unchecked, I can’t. Whether as a business owner or as a leadership trainer, I have to face my fears and self reflect whether I want to or not.
My life is busy, I am often under pressure. That means that I am most often exhibiting my behaviour under pressure. If you know anything about personality profiling you know that is your raw behaviour, not your best bahaviour.
For the past 2 days, I have had eaten humble pie, forced to reexamine my behaviour as a leader.
Imagine facilitating a 2 day workshop on emotional intelligence.
O my…what a reminder on how to manage your emotions in a manner that achieves goals.
The best thing about training is you think you are imparting knowledge whereas in actual fact you are often the one learning.
My key take away like most of the participants was PRR.
Before you react;
Pause
Reflect
Respond
You are more likely to manage the situation better.
We had fun as usual, but most of all, we learnt.
